Google's overview does not print the last two columns, so I divided cost by conversions and conversions by clicks, rounding to two decimals. Each row for the days before is the figure above it minus the change its arrow shows.

How I Run Driving School Accounts

A parent, a teen and a nervous adult each search for lessons in their own words. I write for all three.

  1. Teens search, parents decide. Google does not personalize ads for signed-in minors, so teen campaigns rest on the words typed, like "driver's ed near me". The landing page then talks to the parent, often the one paying, about dual-control cars, pickup from home and price.
  2. Ad groups follow the license path. Driver's ed classes, behind-the-wheel hours, road test packages and adult lessons each get their own ad group, ad text and page. An adult who just failed a road test sees an ad for test prep with a car for test day, not a teen course.
  3. Some "driving" searches stay out. Searches like "driving games", "free permit practice test" or "how to become a driving instructor" are added as negative keywords. I keep "DMV approved driving school", though, because blocking every "DMV" search would also block people looking for a school.
  4. The map is your pickup zone. The target area matches where your instructors pick people up, plus the road test centers you use. Towns your cars never drive to go on the excluded list.
  5. The lesson calendar sets the budget. When the calendar is nearly full, the daily budget comes down, and when new slots open, it goes back up.
  6. Only confirmed bookings count. A "Book now" click is not a booked lesson, so the conversion fires on the scheduler's confirmation page instead. The scheduler's domain also goes on GA4's list of unwanted referrals, so each booking stays linked to the ad that started it.

What the Numbers Say

Account 2 doubled its conversions. From Oct 1 to 24, 2026, it recorded 34, against 17 in the 24 days before, on 15.92% more spend. Each one cost $19.62 ($666.99 ÷ 34), down from $33.85 ($575.37 ÷ 17).

Account 1, the busiest, recorded 72 conversions at $15.39 each ($1,107.99 ÷ 72), against 62.01 at $17.65 ($1,094.70 ÷ 62.01) before. Spend rose only 1.21%, while conversions rose 16.11%.

Account 3 had the hardest month of the three: 19 conversions at $58.91 each ($1,119.32 ÷ 19), against 21 at $56.96 before, on 6.42% less spend.

Google counts a conversion each time someone takes an action the account was set to count, for example a call, a form or a booking. Where several ads helped toward one conversion, Google divides the credit between them, so figures like 62.01 carry decimals.

Who This Is For

If It's Your Business

If you run a driving school or teach on your own, I'll check your account for free, starting with your booking tool. After that, you can take it from there or hand the work to me.

If It's Your Client's Account

I can take a driving school's Google Ads off your agency's plate as white-label work. Teen, adult and test-prep ad groups report apart, so your client can see where the budget goes.

Let's Look at Your Driving School Ads

Send me your pickup area and the lessons you most want to fill. I'll go through the account for free, for your own school or a school you handle for a client.
